Terry Fox Walk

Terry Fox is a Canadian icon and hero. He is an inspiration to many people because of his example of perseverance and strength. Terry Fox walked 3,000 miles on one leg to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. As is BT tradition, the staff and students of BT walk in honor of and in memory of Terry Fox, supporting cancer research. Weather permitting, we will hold our school wide Terry Fox walk on Friday, September 14th. In the event of inclement weather, our rain date is Monday, September 17th. For the walk, our FDK—Kindergarten classes will either walk one lap around the school or will walk laps in their kindergarten courtyard. Our Grade 1—6 classes will participate in the walk by walking a lap around the school, equal to their letter Grade: Grade 1 class will walk one lap around the school; Grade 2 classes will walk two laps around the school and so forth. Our Grade 7 & 8 students will walk the 5 km route, in our school community. For the walk, for safety reasons, students are to wear their running shoes or appropriate outdoor walking shoes. In support of cancer research and in memory of Terry Fox, we ask that each student, if possible, make a monetary donation of a loonie or a toonie, to their classroom teacher. We will be collecting donations, over a three day period, Wednesday, September 12th, to Friday, September 14th. Our school goal is to raise $ 1,000.00.
